Festival to help market Himalayan oranges through tourism

Kolkata : To reinstate pride in northeast Indias legacy of orange production through tourism, the second edition of the Himalayan Orange Tourism Festival will kick-off here on December 2, organisers said on Tuesday. "As many as 150 representatives mainly from the orange producing region of northeast India, Bhutan and Nepal will participate in the three day festival to boost marketing of oranges," said fest convenor, Raj Basu of Association of Conservation of Tourism.
Not only oranges, the festival will also showcase indigenous items like honey, fruit concentrates etc. besides promoting home stays from northeast India, said Basu.
"This time we have Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim joining in, in addition to rest of northeast India, Dooars (West Bengal), Nepal and Bhutan," he said. The festival will run till December 4 at City Centre 1.-Agency
