WTN- Scientists are hoping to hang the first man-made moon, which is eight times brighter than the real one, above the city of Chengdu by 2020. The satellites could replace streetlamps in urban areas, reducing costs.
Chengdu Aerospace Science and Technology Microelectronics System Research Institute Company (CASC) plans to build an artificial moon that would be eight times brighter than the real moon, reports Chinese newspaper. The fake moon would actually a satellite, built to light areas between 6 and 50 miles wide, and would replace streetlights in the city of Chengdu.
